Paraclete and Desert Christian also are in contention for league titles heading into Thursday's regular-season finales.

Highland (19-2-3 overall, 10-0-1 Golden League) for the first time captured back-to-back Golden crowns, securing its second with Tuesday's 7-0 romp over Palmdale.

The Bulldogs, who finished 11-1-0 in league last season, increased their Golden League unbeaten streak to 21 games. They play today at Lancaster (17-1-4, 8-1-2).

``I'm so happy for the girls, because everybody was coming after them the entire year, but they stepped up to the challenge and accomplished what they set out to do,'' said Highland coach Juan Paolo, who improved to 41-5-4 overall, 21-1-1 in league games, in his first two seasons.

``We wanted to wrap it up before we went to Lancaster. Now we want to try to finish without a (league) loss.''

Highland defeated Lancaster 4-0 on Jan. 19, atoning for a 2-0 setback setback

Lancaster needs at least a draw against the Bulldogs to secure at least a share for second place in league with Quartz Hill (11-5-4, 7-1-3), which plays host to Antelope Valley (7-15-2, 2-7-2). Lancaster and Quartz Hill tied both meetings, with a scoreless draw Friday.

Bishop (15-2-2, 12-0-1) can clinch the league title with a tie or a victory, leaving Desert Christian (15-1-1, 11-1-1) in second.

``If (Mammoth) can pull it through, I'd be really happy,'' said Lewis, whose team plays host to Frazier Mountain Frazier Mountain is a mountain (or peak) that is located near Frazier Park, California and Lake of the Woods, California to the north. Regardless of their finish in league, the Knights are focusing on a deep run in the Southern Section Div. VI playoffs, and they could have sophomore forward Robyn Estrada back for postseason.
