Noe, Royal (15-3-5, 7-2-4) gave its seven seniors the ideal present in their final regular-season home game by putting together its most complete effort of the season.

``They just played out of their minds. They played fantastic,'' said Katzoff, whose team plays Friday at Calabasas, with No. 3 Thousand Oaks (12-3-2, 8-3-2) playing at No. 4 Agoura (9-4-6, 5-3-5). ``We all knew this was going to be a tough week and that Thousand Oaks was going to be our strongest opponent. But they played so well.''

The victory helped Royal move into a second-place tie with Thousand Oaks with 18 points, behind No. 2 Westlake (12-3-4, 8-3-3). The Warriors

concluded their regular season Wednesday with a 2-0 victory over Simi Valley, capping their total at 19 points.

Should Royal and Thousand Oaks - which received a goal from Britney Arauz in the 51st minute - both win Friday, the teams would be declared co-champions and a coin flip would decide which team enters the Southern Section Div. II playoffs as the league's No. 1 entry. But with Agoura's 2-1 loss to Moorpark on Wednesday, regardless of Friday's outcomes, Westlake, Royal and Thousand Oaks are all in the playoffs.

``We kind of started talking about (winning a league title) in the second half,'' said Katzoff, whose team lost to Thousand Oaks 2-1 on Jan. 14. ``We knew where we were standing at the halfway point was very positive.''

The first 25 minutes Wednesday were nothing but positive for Royal, which built a 3-0 lead. Noe scored off a cross from McBride in the fifth minute and returned the favor in the 13th minute when she headed a ball to McBride, who scored inside the right post.

``Goals are scored by hard work from the whole team, not just one player. It starts with the defense and works all the way up to the offense,'' Noe said. ``From the beginning, everyone wanted that common goal, which was to win league. Now to have that opportunity is really exciting.''
