Byline: Chris Cocoles Staff Writer

In a way, things have stayed the same in the Golden League's girls' soccer hierarchy, with Quartz Hill poised to win its fourth consecutive championship and sixth in seven years.

But the Rebels' road hasn't been easy. Quartz Hill hasn't been scoring in bunches as it traditionally has. And the league has proven to be more competitive from top to bottom. It all adds up to an interesting final week of the regular season.

Here's a look at the key matches and their playoff play·off also play-off

The Highland-Lancaster match is important for both teams. Lancaster, which hurt itself early with two losses to Quartz Hill and a loss and tie to Palmdale, has already proven it can beat Highland (5-1-2). The Eagles dominated the Bulldogs in the first half and won 2-0.

Highland is kicking itself over that loss. The young Bulldogs bounced back to tie Quartz Hill in the next match and would have been on the verge On the Verge (or The Geography of Yearning) is a play written by Eric Overmyer.
