Following two heated regular-season meetings, the City Section's two most successful girls' soccer teams struggled to play nice again Wednesday Wednesday: see week. .

But for the third time this year and the ninth straight encounter over four seasons, El Camino Real El Camino Real (Spanish for The Royal Road or The King's Highway) was the name of a series of pre-automobile highways linking the various New World colonies of Spain:

``They definitely, really wanted it,'' Oakes said. ``But it was our home field, and we have pride. We're not going to lose it here. We came out on top, but they definitely put up a good fight.''

Oakes stretched to take a pass from her sister Michelle, slipping a 10-yard shot inside the right post before falling to the ground. Oakes moved back to sweeper for the game's final 15 minutes to preserve the victory, helping ECR extend its unbeaten streak against City opponents to 34.

``I felt like we dominated the game, but it's just one of those things,'' said Chatsworth coach Vickie Altshule, whose team benefited from point-blank stops by freshman goalkeeper Dana Moreno on second-half breakaways by Michelle Oakes and Niki Connolly. ``We just couldn't finish, and you've got to finish to win the game.''
