DESERT HOT SPRINGS - The good times kept rolling Thursday for the girls' golf program at Notre Dame Notre Dame IPA: [nɔtʁ dam] is French for Our Lady, referring to the Virgin Mary. In the United States of America, Notre Dame  High of Sherman Oaks.

Her 39-35-74 showing at par-72, 5,505-yard Mission Lakes Country Club left Kobayashi tied for eighth overall, the best of 26 area entries in a 135-golfer field topped by Jenny Tangtiphaiboontana, the Stanford-bound senior from Long Beach Wilson whose 2-under-par 70 won by a stroke.

Amie Cochran of West Torrance and Jennie Lee of Edison both shot 71, and 25 players broke 80 in the competition that advanced the top-22 finishers to the Dec. 3 CIF/WSCGA Championship at SCGA SCGA Southern California Golf Association

``My putting wasn't really the best today,'' she said, ``but I was able to recover with my iron shots.''

Silvertrust of Camarillo and Vanessa Brockett of Campbell Hall of North Hollywood - who won the Los Angeles City women's championship this year - had the best area non-qualifying scores at 81.
