Tubert didn't want to win in a card-off, she wanted the championship all to herself.

Park Optimist Club tournament, Tubert recorded three birdies on her final five holes to defend her title with a 1-under 35 on the back nine at DeBell Golf Course in Burbank.

"It was a crazy round. I hit eight of nine greens in regulation, but I had a three-putt (on No. 11) and a four-putt (on No. 12)," said Tubert, who won a card-off last year with Cho, C.V.'s Katie Park and Torrance's Demi Runas. "It definitely wasn't a boring round of golf. Things didn't start out so well, but I came back and I made up for it."

Competing in the first group in the A Flight, Tubert and Cho were tied at 32 through eight holes. But Tubert sank a 10-foot birdie putt on the final hole to separate herself from Cho and Park.

"I knew exactly where I was and I really wanted to beat (Christine) this time," Tubert said. "I hit my best drive of the whole day and I hit my second shot inside ... so she had to putt first. She left it short and I knew if it was meant to be that I would make it and I just did my thing."

Cho and Park both finished with 1-over 36s, teaming with Sally Chun chun

 (47) and Krizia Del Rosario (53) to lead C.V. to its second team title in three years with a 172.

"There's always pressure because they're my competition," Cho said. "But I enjoy playing with (Emily) because she's really nice. I knew it was pretty close (entering the 18th hole), but I actually thought she was beating me."

Hart of Newhall, which recorded an impressive 20-stroke victory Wednesday over Westlake, had its top quartet tie for second with St. Joseph of Lakewood at 176, and its second quartet finish ninth at 189. Had the Indians' freshmen trio of Amanda Corr (38), Brenna Carlson (42) and Nikki Prichard (44) teamed with Laura Gresham (40) or Molly molly

Cayson (44) instead of Danielle Klinedinst (52), Hart would've finished ahead of C.V.

"Sometimes you have to roll the dice," Hart coach Renee Onori said. "When you're playing well, there's the individual anticipation because everybody thinks you're going to break a record. But it's hard to play three days in a row."

Valencia's Jenny Kim tied Corr for fourth with a 38. Jasnin Samson shot a 39 for Valencia, tying her for sixth with Amanda Hawes, who led Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  to a fourth-place effort (184).
