There are plenty of reasons the Sylmar girls' basketball team could be upset about the circumstances in their City Section semifinal at 7:30 p.m. tonight at second-seeded Crenshaw cren·shaw   also cran·shaw

Despite having to play at a non-neutral site, Chevalier seemed more upset about not being able to watch her husband, Cleveland of Reseda boys' coach Andre Chevalier, in the Cavaliers' semifinal against Fairfax. The Cleveland game is being played at Loyola Marymount at the same time as the Sylmar game.

``The biggest downfall of the whole new seeding arrangement is that my husband and I are both going to the semifinals and we can't watch each other,'' Chevalier said.

``But hopefully, we'll be together in the championship at the Sports Arena.

``I still don't really know why ours is the only game at a home site. ... But whatever, we welcome the challenge. ... I like when people doubt us.''

In years past, the City held its semifinals at L.A. Southwest College, but they were moved to home sites this year because of budget constraints A Budget Constraint represents the combinations of goods and services that a consumer can purchase given current prices and his income. Consumer theory uses the concepts of a budget constraint and a preference ordering to analyze consumer choices. .

However, on Thursday, two of the games were moved to Loyola Marymount and another moved to West L.A. College because of anticipated large crowds.

Fears, Sylmar's leading scorer during its run to the City final last season, also sees tonight as an opportunity to prove Sylmar deserved the No. 2 seed over Crenshaw. Sylmar defeated the Cougars 65-59 in the quarterfinals last season. But Crenshaw has a 25-game winning streak Noun 1. winning streak - a streak of wins

``We want to prove everybody wrong and do them like we did to Carson last year when they got the No. 2 seed,'' said Fears, referring to Sylmar's 61-29 victory over Carson in the semifinals last season.

``We've got some unfinished business from last year that we want to take care of.''

Sylmar is bidding to become the first girls' team in the area to win the City title since Kennedy of Granada Hills did so in 1987.
