Village Christian's leading scorer, Alex Dill, was held to three points, as the No. 2-seed Crusaders (24-7) lost to their Alpha League rival for the third time this season. Top-seed Whittier Christian (24-6) made up for its own lack of offensive production with a defense that forced 23 turnovers and limited the Crusaders to an 8-of-43 shooting performance.

Whitley Brown led Whittier Christian with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Generals trailed just once, when Village Christian point guard Kris Contangco hit an 8-footer to put the Crusaders ahead 17-16 four minutes into the second half.

Brown scored eight points over the next eight minutes, and Whittier Christian went on a 15-2 run over that span to take its first double-digit lead midway through the fourth quarter.
