    Kelsey Kaehler recorded 40 assists and Cathy Quilico added 32 digs for Westlake.

    Lakewood 3, Moorpark 0: One of the most successful seasons in Musketeers' (19-6) history came to an end with a 25-17, 25-17, 31-29 setback in their Div. I-AA opener.

Its name derives from its crescent-like shape, with the convex portion facing roughly northeast and the concave portion southwest.  0: Courtney McCutchan had nine kills and Molly Berger added eight as host La Canada defeated Crescenta Valley of La Crescenta 25-14, 25-16, 25-13 in its Div. II-A playoff opener.

    Kim McCutchan had six kills for La Canada (14-9), which defeated C.V. (13-12) for the second time this season.

    Burroughs 3, San Marino San Marino, city, United States

    Viewpoint 3, Windward 0: Samantha Borenstein had 27 assists and Marisa Leonard added eight kills to lead host Viewpoint of Calabasas (19-4) to a 25-15, 25-22, 25-16 first-round win over Windward of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  in Div. IV-AA.

    Providence 3, Mary Star of the Sea 1: Heather Hansen had 14 kills and seven digs and Natalie Kasbarian added 26 assists and eight digs for the host Pioneers in a 23-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-15 victory in their Div. IV-AA opener.

    Oaks Christian 3, St. Joseph/SM 0: Molly Cindric had 11 kills to lead the host Lions (12-5) to a 25-20, 25-12, 25-10 Div. III-A victory over St. Joseph (10-10).

    Oak Park 3, Culver City 2: Sara Majidian had 20 kills and Samantha Macks added eight blocks for the Eagles (21-4) rallied for a 25-23, 20-25, 22-25, 25-15, 15-8 road win in their Div. III-AA opener.
