It's been a long time since Harvard-Westlake of Studio City's girls' tennis team lost a Mission League match. But as the old adage goes, all good things must come to an end.

Haley Hinkle defeated Ally Kalt 7-6 (2) in the match's final set to propel pro·pel

``This was a huge win for us,'' Knights coach Mark Pfau said. ``Harvard-Westlake is a great team, a great program with a great history. We've wanted this win for a long time. This is monumental mon·u·men·tal

Harvard-Westlake's last league loss came against Chaminade of West Hills, resulting in the teams sharing the title three years ago.

With the victory, Notre Dame (9-3, 5-0), ranked No. 7 by the Daily News, moved into sole possession of first place, ahead of the fourth-ranked Wolverines (4-6, 4-1).

Harvard-Westlake built a 4-2 lead after the first round, but the Knights battled back to tie the score at 6-6, setting the stage for Hinkle's heroics.

After Kalt built a 5-2 lead, Hinkle remained calm, rallying to tie the score at 5-5. She fell behind again at 6-5, before holding serve to force the tiebreaker tie·break·er

Notre Dame's Aimee Oki swept at No. 1 singles, defeating Kalt 6-0, Caroline Richman 6-4, and Jennifer Chan 6-0. Hinkle won two of three sets.

``Notre Dame played well, but then again, we knew they were going to give us a challenge coming into the match,'' Harvard-Westlake coach Chris Simpson Christopher Patrick Simpson (born 9 January, 1982) in Brisbane, Queensland, is an Australian cricketer who plays for the Queensland Bulls in Australian domestic cricket.
