MOORPARK -- Taylor French's journey to becoming the Marmonte League The Marmonte League is a high school sports league primarily made up of schools from Ventura County. Click here to view the league schedule.  singles champion began in Agoura and took a year-long hiatus in Ojai before finally coming to fruition Tuesday.

 Brittney Harper of Calabasas 7-6 (5), 6-3 in the tournament final at Arroyo Vista Community Park.

``Taylor played incredible,'' said Calabasas coach Kim Kinberg, who enjoyed an all-Coyotes doubles final, won by Valerie Chang and Sabrina Man-Son-Hing with a 1-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3 victory over Tiffany Harper and Jillian Schnitman.

``It was Brittney's first tough match since her elbow injury, but I'm not taking anything away from Taylor. She played a gutsy match.''

French, who placed third in the league doubles tournament with Blair Brzeski during her freshman year at Agoura, defeated Calabasas' Eileen Chang Eileen Chang (Traditional Chinese: 張愛玲; Simplified Chinese: 张爱玲; Pinyin: Zhāng Àilíng  in the semifinals before atoning for a regular-season loss to Harper in the final.

The doubles title was the first for Valerie Chang and Man-Son-Hing, denying Schnitman -- a four-time league finalist in singles or doubles -- a chance at a second doubles championship after she teamed with Cory Ceizler to win her freshman year.

All six finalists advance to the Southern Section individual regionals Nov. 18 at Agoura and Oak Park.

SOUTHERN SECTION WILD-CARD ROUND

Camarillo 12, Cabrillo/L 6: Pacific View League singles champion Veronique Van den Brink didn't allow a game in winning her three sets and Katie Power Energizer, real name Katie Power, is a fictional character in Marvel Comics' universe. She first appeared in Power Pack #1 and was created by Louise Simonson and June Brigman.  swept her sets as well to lead host Camarillo (9-7) to the Div. IV victory over the Braves (8-10).

Andrea Luethy and Katy Wan won twice in doubles for the Scorpions, who play Thursday at Cerritos (18-2).

St. Joseph/L 10, Highland 8: Linda Moore and Nicole Bablot swept in doubles for the Jesters (9-9) in the Div. IV win over the Bulldogs (11-7).

Buckley 13, La Puente La Puente (lä pwĕn`tē), city (1990 pop. 36,955), Los Angeles co., S Calif., a suburb of Los Angeles; laid out 1841, inc. 1956. Primarily residential, the city manufactures hardware, electronics, and paper products.  5: Ruth Nadievsky swept her singles sets and the visiting Griffins (7-6) won all nine doubles sets to record the Div. V victory over La Puente (10-7). Buckley will play Thursday at second-seeded Aquinas of San Bernardino (18-1).
