Byline: Erik Boal BOAL Basic Organization of Associated Labor (Yugoslavia, socialism)  Special to the Daily News

It took two venues, more than four hours and some clutch points from Laguna Beach Laguna Beach (ləg`nə), city (1990 pop. 23,170), Orange co., S Calif., on the Pacific coast; founded 1887, inc. 1927.  High seniors Kellie Ammerman and Katie Ochwat, but Calabasas' reign as Southern Section Div. I girls' tennis champion finally came to an end Thursday.

The second-seeded Coyotes, forced to play catch-up after Laguna Beach built a two-set lead after the first round, found itself with a match point in their semifinal against the visiting Breakers.

But Ammerman and Ochwat managed to hold serve in their doubles set against Calabasas' Valerie Chang Chang (chăng) or Yangtze (yăng`sē`, yäng`dzŭ`), Mandarin Chang Jiang, longest river of China and of Asia, c.3,880 mi (6,245 km) long, rising in the Tibetan highlands, SW Qinghai prov.  and Tiffany Tiffany, Tiffanie (UK)

The match was moved from Calabasas High just past the two-hour mark because of darkness, with the Coyotes trailing 7-6 but tied at 53 on games.

With all but the final doubles match finished, No. 6 Laguna Beach (21-1) held a 9-8 lead but trailed 70-68 on games. Chang and Harper rallied to win consecutive games for a 6-5 lead, then were at set point - with one more needed to send Calabasas (20-2) to its third final in four years. Ochwat and Ammerman, who recorded earlier 6-4 and 7-5 victories, rallied to win the game, then scored the final six points in the tiebreaker to win 7-6 (7-1).

``It was tough for me emotionally, but I couldn't be any prouder,'' said Laguna Beach coach Greg Weiss.
