GIRLS' SOCCER: HART DOESN'T MISS A THING.Byline: ERIK BOAL Special to the Daily News SAUGUS -- The one missing piece in Hart of Newhall's run last season to its first Foothill League title since 2000 was a victory at Saugus. And the one ingredient that might be most instrumental in the Indians' bid for a repeat is the performance of Aubrie Smith. Smith scored twice and assisted on another goal Tuesday as Hart exacted revenge for last year's humbling hum·ble adj. hum·bler, hum·blest 1. Whether it was in the run of play or on set pieces, the Indians kept Saugus (6-2-2, 0-1) guessing Tuesday, with Smith and Sarina Coutin playing interchangeable in·ter·change·a·ble adj. Hart also demonstrated its versatility on corner kicks, switching between Smith and Brittany Clark taking the kicks and offering a number of different looks that kept Saugus off-balance. ``I'm working with different players in different positions, and by moving them around it gives us an advantage,'' Hart coach Louis Romero said. ``And by the time they figure it out, we're back to our original lineup A criminal investigation technique in which the police arrange a number of individuals in a row before a witness to a crime and ask the witness to identify which, if any, of the individuals committed the crime. .'' Hart's ability to switch the point of its attack led to both of Smith's goals, the first on a pass by Clark in the 32nd minute. Smith added an insurance goal in injury time in the second half, with Dominque Penaranda and Lindsay Mills setting her up to blast a low line drive inside the right post. ``We try to switch (the field) a lot because the last player on the (weak side) is always open,'' Smith said. ``(In the second half) Sarina asked me to move back to the midfield and she got a lot more action up top and made things happen. Then, when she scored her goal, I asked her to move back.'' Smith's biggest contribution might have been her execution of a corner- kick play early in the second half, which resulted in the go-ahead goal by Katie Kuykendall. erik.boal@dailynews.com (818) 713-3607 CAPTION(S): photo, box Photo: Saugus' Erin Ortega, left, heads a ball toward teammate Jacki Bercovici, not shown, who scored a goal.
