GIRLS' BASKETBALL: WOLVERINE FROSH FIGHT FOR UPSET.

The Harvard-Westlake of Studio City girls' basketball team was never supposed to be this good.

Not after last year, in which the Wolverines finished with just eight wins all season. Not after the team's roster was finalized See finalization.  this season, with five of nine varsity spots going to freshmen. So much for all of that.

Freshman forward Nicole Hung scored a game-high 14 points, including the go-ahead basket with 51seconds remaining, and Yoyo Greenfield Greenfield, town (1990 pop. 18,666), seat of Franklin co., NW Mass., at the confluence of the Deerfield and Green rivers, near their junction with the Connecticut; settled 1686, set off from Deerfield and inc. 1753.  added 13points as Harvard-Westlake held off a late rally to upset host Chaminade of West Hills 47-44 Saturday in a Mission League game.

``We get no respect, so this win feels great,'' Hung said.

Harvard-Westlake (15-5 overall, 4-0 Mission League), ranked No.9 in the area by the Daily News, took a 38-25 lead with 2:36 remaining in the third quarter when Greenfield connected on a 3-pointer from the right corner.

No. 8 Chaminade (14-6, 3-1) responded with a full-court pressure defense and went on a 19-5 rally over the next nine minutes. The rally concluded with a layup by Anna Simmons, whose basket put the Eagles ahead 44-43 with 1:15 left.

It would prove to be Chaminade's only lead in the second half, as Hung responded on the next possession with her go-ahead 5-foot jumper The simplest form of an on/off switch. With the win, Harvard-Westlake moves into sole possession of first place in the Mission League. In the United States of America, Notre Dame  of Sherman Oaks (17-5, 3-1) on Tuesday.

``I've been waiting years for this, but I have to admit I'm a little surprised,'' said Greenfield, a Yale-bound senior.
