But then there is Moorpark, which earned the distinction as league favorite during the first half of the season while winning 14 of its first 15 games. One team had to give Monday night, and the Panthers made sure it wasn't them while holding off a late rally for a 60-52victory over the Musketeers in a Marmonte League game at Newbury Park High. Sophomore point guard Sidney Dobner scored a team-high 14 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, and Doris Park-Sherman had 11 points and 12 rebounds for Newbury Park (11-5, 4-0), which won despite giving up a 14-point second half lead to the Musketeers (14-2, 3-1). ``Fortunately for us, our shots were falling early, because Moorpark made an impressive run there at the end of the game,'' Newbury Park coach Nori Parvin said. ``Moorpark is a very good team, and they gave us a pretty big scare there.'' The Panthers, whose leading scorer Arlene Harris (torn MCL MCL - Macintosh Common LISP ) is out for the remainder of the season, took a 12-0 lead four minutes into the game on a 17-foot jump shot by Alison Turley. Newbury Park led 35-22 at halftime, but Moorpark rallied to tie the score at 41-41 with 6:48 remaining on a layup by point guard Laura Barker barker a term for an animal that does not usually bark which makes a violent respiratory effort, often during a convulsion, accompanied by a sound which roughly resembles a dog's bark. .
