As her team was struggling to a 2-4 start in December, Chatsworth High girls' basketball coach Raquel Alotis told them, ``Just wait until February.''

At the time, it seemed like spin doctoring, wishful thinking wishful thinking Psychology Dereitic thought that a thing or event should have a specified outcome , or at the very least, a huge challenge. But as Chatsworth (18-5, 9-0) put the finishing touches finishing touches finish npl the finishing touches → der letzte Schliff

on a 57-43 victory over visiting El Camino Real El Camino Real (Spanish for The Royal Road or The King's Highway) was the name of a series of pre-automobile highways linking the various New World colonies of Spain:

of Woodland Hills on Wednesday night, clinching the West Valley League title, Alotis' faith in her team finally was vindicated.

``We've done lots and lots of skill work every day in practice that has translated into confidence in games,'' Alotis said. ``And there's no substitute for game experience.''

The Chancellors returned only one starter - senior shooting guard The Shooting guard (SG), also known as the two or off guard,[1] is one of five traditional positions on a basketball team. Players of the position are often shorter, leaner, and quicker than forwards.  Summer Johnson - from last year's team that went to the City Section finals. Early in the season, it seemed Johnson would have to score 30 points a game for the Chancellors to win.

But the Chatsworth team of mid-February is much different from the young, often- sloppy slop·py

team of December, who looked to Johnson to rescue them from pressure. Since that rough start, Chatsworth has won 16 of its past 17 games, losing only to Carson at the Fairfax tournament.

``People kept asking me what we'd have this year since we lost so many players, and I told 'em that we've got great chemistry,'' said Johnson, who had 20 points, six assists and five steals against El Camino Real (17-7, 6-3). ``I had confidence in this team all along and now we're just so comfortable with each other.''

A big part of that development has been the emergence of sophomore forward Alicia Bryant, who had 15 points and seven rebounds on Wednesday.

Bryant, freshman point guard Luiza Osborne and 6-foot-2 freshman center Laura Cornell Cornell

named after New York State Veterinary College at Cornell University, NY, USA.
