LANCASTER -- A 4-year-old girl who was not breathing Sunday after being thrown 40 feet from a car during a crash was revived by a sheriff's deputy and airlifted to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. .

``He discovered the girl was not breathing and revived her, which was great,'' Patterson said.

The girl was in critical but stable condition at Childrens Hospital, a sheriff's deputy said.

Authorities did not release the name of the girl or the drivers. The driver of the car the girl was riding in was described as a 24-year-old Lancaster woman, but Patterson would not say if she was the girl's mother.

The driver of the SUV was a 42-year-old Lancaster man, he said.

Alcohol was not believed to be involved in the collision, authorities said.
