GIRL CAMPER HIT BY 2-TON ROLLER IN DRUNKEN PRANK; 21 rugby youths arrested.

A WOMAN was recovering from head injuries last night after boozed-up rugby yobs pushed a heavy roller on to her tent.

Police arrested 21 men after Emma Winch, 26, was hurt as she slept. The men have all been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Ms Winch was due to play in a women's rugby event that was part of an annual tournament run by Aberaeron Rugby Club, West Wales West Wales is the western area of Wales bordered by South Wales to the east. The area is loosely-defined, but is generally considered to include Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, southern areas of Ceredigion, and sometimes the city of Swansea, . .

Another woman player said: "Emma and her friends had gone to bed early because they were playing the next day. There were three of them in the tent when lads thought it would be fun to set the roller free.

"It was on the top of a slight hill and they pushed it to get it going.

"It was a crazy, stupid thing to do. She could have been killed."

Police confirmed they were "called to an incident in the early hours of Saturday in Aberaeron" and searched for suspects by torchlight.

The 21 men are from the Merthyr Tydfil Merthyr Tydfil (mûr`thər tĭd`vĭl), town (1981 pop. 38,893) and county borough, 43 sq mi (111 sq km), S Wales. Located on the Taff River, the town is connected to Cardiff by canal. It has ironworks and steelworks.  area. The Merthyr Tydfil youth team were dismissed from the tournament, their club confirmed.

Ms Winch's team Pontyclun Ladies, from near Bridgend, also withdrew from the event.
