GIRL, 4, KILLED BY FALLING TV; Tragedy as she gets ready for bed on Christmas Eve.

A GIRL of four died after a television fell on her in a tragic accident at home.

She had been getting ready for bed on Christmas Eve. Doctors fought to save her but she died hours later on Christmas Day.

A police spokeswoman said last night that the little girl's family are "very distraught".

The child, who has not been named, was rushed to Alder Hey Children's Hospital Alder Hey Children's Hospital is a children's hospital in West Derby, Liverpool. It is run by the Royal Liverpool Children's NHS Trust as part of the UK National Health Service.  in Liverpool.

An investigation has been launched into the death at the girl's home in Coedpoeth, Wrexham.

North Wales police North Wales Police (Welsh: Heddlu Gogledd Cymru) is the Home Office police force responsible for policing North Wales. The headquarters are in Colwyn Bay, with divisional headquarters in St Asaph, Caernarfon and Wrexham.  have handed the inquiry to the coroner's office.

A police spokeswoman said yesterday: "As a result of a sad and tragic accident a four-year-old girl passed away at Alder Hey Children's Hospital on Christmas Day.

"The family are very distraught at this tragic accident and police are making a plea for the privacy of the family to be respected at this incredibly difficult time."

Earlier this month parents were warned of the dangers of putting heavy objects on light furniture after 13-month-old Swansea boy Riyaz Ghaazi Mohamed was killed by a falling TV. An inquest inquest, in law, a body of men appointed by law to inquire into certain matters. Coroner Philip Rogers said: "This tragedy could easily happen again."
