(Around the World).Operating on its new four-year cycle, the 10" GIFA GIFA Internationale Giesserei-Fachmesse (German: International Foundry Trade Fair; Dusseldorf, Germany) GIFA Governing International Fisheries Agreement GIFA Gross Internal Floor Area International Foundry Trade Fair, the world's largest exposition for the metalcasting industry, will be held June 16-21 at the Messe-Dusseldorf fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground. in Dusseldorf, Germany. Through eight exhibition halls, more than 900 exhibitors are expected to showcase the latest in metalcasting technologies and services to 50,000 metalcasting officials from around the globe. Exhibit categories include foundry machinery and plant construction, casting machinery and equipment, melting processes, and molding and coremaking. Held in conjunction is the World Foundry Organization Technical Forum, which will be held June 16-17. Cosponsored by the German Foundrymen's Assn. (VDG VDG Verlag und Datenbank für Geisteswissenschaften (German publishing house) VDG Van De Graaff VDG Video Display Generator VDG Venereal Disease - Gonorrhea VDG Visual Dynamics Research Group VDG Vacuum De-Gasifier ), presentations will focus on information technologies for foundries and the various approaches being taken worldwide in simulation processes and process automation methods. New to the 2003 schedule is Newcast, the 1st International Castings Trade Fair. Foundries are encouraged to exhibit their unique services in this new international venue, which aims to attract professionals from the automotive, mechanical, aerospace, construction, electronics, medical, and energy industries. GIFA and Newcast join two other concurrent shows, Metec and Therraprocess, which focus on metallurgical met·al·lur·gy n. 1.
