``The businesses that signed up all want to do business with the Latino community,'' said Nancy Hoffman, the chamber's executive vice president. ``If people want to be in this business in this area, these are who the consumers are.''

While some businesses were Latino-owned or run, others weren't. For many businesses, the expo presented a rare opportunity to meet potential new customers in person, rather than pitching through ads.

The small bank has had trouble reaching out to Latino customers despite its Latino ownership, Freire said. So he was pleased to see several hundred people stop by, collect information and snatch snatch
