An unflinching Mrs. Thatcher today scorned Argentina's reported last-ditch peace efforts.

Her uncompromising message to General Galtieri was: "If you really want peace, get your troops on the boat home."

The Prime Minister met her War Cabinet asrain this morning as two top-ranking Argentinian officers flew to New York New York, state, United States

They are said to be carrying last-minute concessions in order to achieve an "honorable peace," hut their mission has been greeted frostily in Downing Street Downing Street, Westminster, London, England. On the street are the British Foreign Office and, at No. 10, the residence of the first lord of the Treasury, who is usually (although not necessarily) the prime minister of Great Britain. .

A source close to Mrs. Thatcher said: "There have heen plenty of noises before, but no action.

"There's a very easy way to got peace. AH the Argentinians have to do is call for a ship and sail home."

The War Cabinet has been given detail if the latest movement of British forces as they prepare for the final assault on the Falklands' capital of Port Stanley.

reporter Michael Nicholson, with the troops on East Falkland, said British commanders had confirmed that two napalm bombs were dropped on the Second Parachute Battalion as it attacked Goose Green, but both missed and nobody was injured.

The evidence of the desperation of Argentinian troops emerged when Paras from the 2nd Battalion found 9,000 gallons of the chemical bomb in Goose Green.

Some of it was in leaking tanks only yards from the community hall where the Argentinians kept more than 100 Falklanders hostage for a month.

British officers were angry and worried by the discovery of the napalm store.

If one of the British Harriers had hit the napalm Goose Green would have disappeared, a spokesman said.

Last night, Ministry of- Defence spokesman Mr. Ian McDonald told reporters some tanks and some home-made bombs, which could have been used for a napalm attack on British troops, had been found after the capture of Goose Green and Darwin.

But he added: "We have no reports of it being used, and nothing beyond preliminary reports of the use of tanks and bombs."

There will be no live coverage of any Argentine match in the first round of the World Cup, on either BEC or ITV (1) See interactive TV.
