SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  - Yeah, yeah, yeah, so Stephen Peeples loves The Beatles.

But his admiration goes further than owning a vast collection of CDs or a few photographs.

It's the musicianship of John, Paul, George and Ringo that keeps Peeples hooked, and he hopes the timeless classics Timeless Favorites (formerly Timeless Classics) is a 24-hour satellite music service of ABC Radio Networks, distributing a mix of soft oldies and new adult standards formerly known as "Stardust" to radio stations around the USA.  produced by the Fab Four will connect with listeners who tune in at 7 p.m. for Beatles Etc., a one-hour radio show he produced and is hosting. It debuts tonight on KHTS-AM (1220).

``This isn't your mama's oldies radio Oldies Radio (formerly known as Pure Gold) is an American radio network with a Oldies format. It plays primarily pop and rock hits from the 1960s and 1970s. Along with his 18-year-old son, Scot Peeples, who works as associate producer of the show and is a Beatles fan as well, this is the first time Stephen has been able to get behind a microphone.

``This is designed to be the hometown home·town

 Beatles show,'' Peeples said. ``It's not just about music made 3,000 or 10,000 miles away from here. It's connecting music with the local public and the public at large.''

Beatles Etc. will spotlight The Beatles, the Beatles, The, English rock music group formed in the late 1950s and disbanded in 1970. The members were

John Lennon, 1940–80, guitar and harmonica;

That link is profound, said Peeples, who noted that without The Beatles, there would be no Rolling Stones Rolling Stones, English rock music group that rose to prominence in the mid-1960s and continues to exert great influence. Members have included singer

, The Kinks, The Who or The Yardbirds. Without Elvis, without the blues sounds that preceded him, it's unlikely there would be The Beatles.

``If you look at the Beatles' history, they evolved from mop-top pop to psychedelic psychedelic /psy·che·del·ic/ (si?ki-del´ik)

 experimentation in the span of seven years and a lot of terrific ground was covered then,'' he said. ``Different audiences like different periods.''

Peeples said he enjoys it all but is especially fond of the early psychedelic period - albums such as ``Rubber Soul'' and ``Revolver.''

His show also will feature rare studio demos and outtakes, live in-concert and live BBC BBC

 studio tracks, and the occasional interview clips. A segment called ``This Week in Beatles History'' is also scheduled, plus an opportunity for residents to become guest deejays. Listeners can log on to beatlesetc.com, request a favorite song and include a 25-word reason why they like the tune. Peeples will then choose the best one and the fan will be asked to call in.

The show is also timely, noted Peeples.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of The Beatles' arrival in America as well as other Fab Four milestones.

``The Beatles defined our generation,'' said Carl Goldman, KHTS president, in a statement promoting the show. ``We are so lucky to have someone of Stephen's background and expertise living in Santa Clarita. He has an incredible knowledge and passion for the music of this era. His new show is going to be a wonderful asset to our weekly programming line-up on KHTS.''
