GERBER WINS U.K. PATENT SUIT AGAINST LECTRA

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn., June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Gerber Garment Technology, Inc. has prevailed against Lectra in the United Kingdom with respect to two separate patents relating to its automated computer controlled fabric cutters. In a decision rendered in May 1993, Mr. Justice Aldous of the High Court of Justice, Chancery Division, Patents Court found that Lectra Systemes, S.A. of France and its U.K. subsidiary, Lectra Systems Ltd. had infringed, prior to their expiration, two U.K. patents held by Gerber. A third patent was found not to be infringed by Lectra. The case, which is subject to appeal, will be continued to determine the amount of damages to be awarded to Gerber.
Frederic K. Rosen, president and chief executive officer of Gerber Garment Technology, Inc. noted, "This is just one more case where it has been determined that Gerber's patents are valid and infringed by others. We believe that we will continue to be successful in other patent cases against Lectra and others elsewhere in the world."
