 GEPHARDT, HOYER TO ADDRESS SEAFARERS' CONVENTION
 House Majority Leader Richard A. Gephardt (D-Mo.) will speak


before the 1992 Quinquennial Convention of the Seafarers International Union of North America on Monday, June 15, in the mid- morning in Piney Point, Md. Also addressing the delegates of the 85,000 member organization on Monday morning is Rep. Steny H. Hoyer (D) of the 5th congressional district of Maryland. Seafarers' President Michael Sacco will open the convention with remarks concerning the state of the maritime industry.
 The SIU -- which represents men and women who work aboard U.S.- flag ocean-going ships, Great Lakes vessels, fishing boats, as well as on tugs and tows plying the inland and coastal waters of the United States -- will be meeting in the convention from Monday, June 15, through Wednesday, June 17. Delegates to the convention also will represent other SIU affiliates, which have workers in fish canning factories, sugar processing, petroleum operations, and a host of other jobs in the service, public and manufacturing sectors.
 Among the items to be discussed by the delegates in attendance are a U.S. maritime policy, issues of concern to working Americans -- such as health care and fair labor laws.
 The convention will take place at Piney Point at the Paul Hall Center for Maritime Training and Education.
