GEORGIANS SET NEW ENERGY USE RECORD

GEORGIANS SET NEW ENERGY USE RECORD
ATLANTA, July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second time this week,

Georgia electricity consumers have established a new all-time weekday record for energy consumption in a one-hour period, breaking the previous record set yesterday.
Peak demand for electricity across the state reached the new milestone between 4 and 5 p.m., eclipsing the earlier record of 16,270,000 kilowatts set Wednesday.
The final record figure will not be known until calculations are completed later this evening. The new record peak includes power supplied to Georgia Power customers, as well as customers of Oglethorpe Power Corp. and the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia.
From July 1, 1991, to June 30, 1992, Georgia Power added 24,334 residential customers to its existing base of 1.6 million customers.
