 GEORGIA-PACIFIC BOARD MEMBERS TO RETIRE;
 BOARD NOMINEES ANNOUNCED
 ATLANTA, March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia-Pacific Corp. (NYSE: GP) today announced that Donald V. Fites, chairman and chief executive officer of Caterpillar Inc., and A.D. Correll, Georgia-Pacific president and chief operating officer, have been nominated for election to the company's board of directors at its upcoming shareholder meeting May 5.
 Fites, an Indiana native, has been with Caterpillar since 1956, and his career has included assignments in Europe, Africa, South America and Asia. His marketing background, extensive international experience and commitment to strategic planning make him an excellent nominee to the Georgia-Pacific board. Fites also serves as a director of Mobil Corporation, as chairman of the National Foreign Trade Council, on the Policy Committee of the Business Roundtable, as a trustee of the Farm Foundation and vice chairman of the Equipment Manufacturers Institute. He has been chairman of Caterpillar Inc. since July 1990.
 Correll joined Georgia-Pacific in 1988 as senior vice president of pulp and printing paper. In 1989 he was promoted to executive vice president of pulp and paper, and in 1991 he was named president and chief operating officer. Correll serves on the board of directors of Engraph Inc., Trust Company Bank, Trust Company of Georgia, the University of Maine Pulp and Paper Foundation, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Woodruff Arts Center.
 Fites and Correll were nominated to fill the board vacancies created by the retirement of Willard S. Boothby Jr., retired managing director of PaineWebber Inc., and Robert B. Claytor, retired chairman and chief executive officer of Norfolk Southern Corp., whose terms on Georgia-Pacific's board expire at the annual meeting of shareholders. Boothby has been a board member since 1977, and Claytor has been a member of the company's board since 1983.
