GENSIA APPOINTS HERBERT CONRAD TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 SAN DIEGO, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Gensia Inc. (NASDAQ: GNSA) today announced that Herbert J. Conrad has been appointed to its board of directors. Until his retirement at the end of August 1993, Conrad was a senior executive with Hoffmann-La Roche, most recently as president of the Pharmaceuticals Division and senior vice president of Hoffmann-La Roche. In addition he has served as a member of the Hoffmann-La Roche Executive Committee and board of directors since 1981.
 Conrad has more than 30 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry, primarily with Hoffmann-La Roche where he has held several senior management positions in marketing, business and strategic planning and public affairs for Roche Laboratories and Hoffmann-La Roche Pharmaceuticals Division. Conrad represented Hoffmann-La Roche on the National Pharmaceutical Council and Industrial Biotechnology Association, and was Pharmacy Liaison Committee Member of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association.
