GENIO 5.0 SUPPORTS TERADATA'S TPUMP LOADER.

Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation , has broadened the level of integration of its products with Hummingbird Ltd. , a leading global enterprise software company, on the basis of significant enhancements to Genio Suite(TM). These enhancements will enable Teradata customers to maximize the value of their data warehousing investments by moving data more quickly, efficiently and seamlessly from any data source to the Teradata(R) warehouse.

Hummingbird will support Teradata's customers with Genio Suite(TM) 5.0, a powerful data exchange solution, which represents the first extract, transform and load (ETL) tool to support Teradata's TPump loader and is among the first to offer in-memory streaming of data into all the Teradata loaders.

Genio accelerates the loading process by streaming data directly into the high-performance Teradata loaders (FastLoad, MultiLoad, TPump) without having to stage the data to a disk-based intermediate text file. This unique integration further ensures the speed of data loading, simplifies the logistics, and provides the ability to implement instant data loading. Once the data is resident in Teradata, Genio leverages Teradata's massively parallel processing (MPP) architecture by generating native Teradata standard query language (SQL) to transform data without having to load it back into the Genio engine.

Teradata's active data warehouse extends the support offered by the traditional data warehouse by enabling both tactical and strategic decision-making. Tactical decisions, the drivers of day-to-day operations, require up-to-the-minute information, and feeding this information into the corporate data warehouse has unique data-loading requirements. These requirements include supporting continuous streams or bursts of data, instant updating of the data warehouse without impacting existing concurrent users, and highly flexible triggering based on the unpredictable arrival of data from multiple operational sources.
