GENEVA STEEL ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL PRICE INCREASES

VINEYARD, Utah, Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Geneva Steel (NYSE & PSE: GNV) announced today a price increase of $20 per ton on all hot-rolled coil products effective April 4, 1993. Today's announced increases are in addition to increases announced on Jan. 13, 1993. The company will also publish new pricing policies for coil products as well as for specific extras.
The additional price increases reflect improved quality, a strengthening of the domestic market for flat-rolled products, and the effect of the preliminary anti-dumping and countervailing duty margins announced recently by the U.S. Department of Commerce.
A $10 per net ton increase in transaction prices for plate products will also become effective on April 4, 1993.
The company will continue to meet competitive prices as market forces require.
Geneva Steel is the only integrated steel mill operating west of the Mississippi River. The company manufactures hot-rolled steel sheet, plate and pipe for sale primarily in the Western and Central United States.
