GENERAL SIGNAL NAMES BRILL PRESIDENT OF GS ELECTRIC UNIT.STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 9, 1996-- General Signal Corporation announced today that it has named Edward T. Brill Brill or Bril, Flemish painters, brothers. Mattys Brill (mä`tīs), 1550–83, went to Rome early in his career and executed frescoes for Gregory XIII in the Vatican. president of its GS Electric unit, a Carlisle, Pennsylvania-based manufacturer of electric motors for consumer appliance manufacturing. Mr. Brill replaces Michael R. Jacqmin. In announcing the appointment, General Signal Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael D. Lockhart said: "Ed brings wide-ranging operating experience, business acumen acumen Astuteness, perception, perspicacity , and an ability to think strategically to the position. His strategic development experience -- both here at the corporate office and in other businesses -- will figure prominently in our efforts to extend GS Electric's market reach and improve its performance." Mr. Brill, 45, joined General Signal in 1995 as director of corporate development.
