GENERAL MOTORS APPOINTS COLLIN GENERAL DIRECTOR OF MARKET DATA CENTER
 DETROIT, June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The appointment of Maurice R. Collin to general director of the new Market Data Center was announced today by James B. Fitzpatrick, vice president of the General Motors Communications and Marketing Staff.
 The appointment is effective immediately. Collin will report to Vincent P. Barabba, executive-in-charge of the Market Research Decision Ce ?of the Communications and Marketing Staff. Collin's new assignment will include overseeing the collection, preparation and reporting of worldwide corporate market data as well as the creation and maintenance of worldwide automotive market information systems.
 Prior to this appointment, Collin, 57, was general director of the worldwide Marketing Information Center on the GM Product Planning and Economics Staff. Between 1987 and August 1990, Collin was director, marketing operations and analysis.
 In 1978, he was named manager in the market analysis group of GM's former Marketing and Product Planning Staff, with responsibility for economics and sales forecasting.
 Collin joined General Motors in 1960 as a college graduate-in- training with Chevrolet Motor Division. After manufacturing, engineering and financial assignments in Chevrolet, he joined the GM Financial Staff in 1969 and the Sales and Marketing Staff in 1972.
 A native of Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada, he earned a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from St. Louis University in 1958 and a mechanical engineering degree from Tri-State University in 1960. Collin is a registered professional engineer.
