PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 17, 2004

Today, leading third-party logistics A third-party logistics provider (abbreviated 3PL) is a firm that provides outsourced or "third party" logistics services to companies for part, or sometimes all of their supply chain management function.  provider, GENCO GENCO Generation Company (Pakistan)
GENCO General Company
, announced the official name change of their acquired entity IOgistics.

GENCO acquired IOgistics for their non-asset based logistics technology and services that provide transportation solutions complementing GENCO supply chain solutions. Based in Green Bay, WI, IOgistics was acquired by Pittsburgh-based GENCO in July 2003 and is now known as the Supply Chain Management division of GENCO.

"Dropping the IOgistics name was a natural next step rooted in the team-based culture of GENCO," said Herb Shear, chairman and chief executive officer of GENCO. "IOgistics has quickly become an integral part of the GENCO team. This is a transition to ensure that our customers know that when they are dealing with our IOgistics teammates, they are dealing with GENCO."

The new Supply Chain Management division of GENCO is led by Larry Chaplin. Chaplin has a long history of success in the transportation and supply chain management field and served over 20 years with Schneider Logistics and Schneider Transportation before starting IOgistics with Larry Sur in 1999. Larry Sur is now vice chairman of GENCO. "We are excited to be a part of the GENCO team," said Chaplin. "It gives us the chance to provide complete supply chain solutions for our customers."

Due to a newly implemented reorganization including the acquisition of IOgistics, GENCO is now departmentalized by service solution sets including Retailer Solutions, Manufacturer Solutions, Supply Chain Management Solutions, Infrastructure Solutions and Software Solutions.
