Sanjay Bhatia to Discuss Opportunities and Experiences from GENBAND's Involvement in Numerous Global Femtocell Operator Trials

PLANO, Texas Plano (IPA: /ˈpleɪnoʊ/) is a wealthy suburb of Dallas, Texas, located to the north, mainly within Collin County, but also extending into Denton County. According to the 2000 U.S.  -- GENBAND Inc., a market-leading developer of next-generation IP infrastructure solutions, today announced that Sanjay Bhatia, Director of Product Line Management, will speak on wireless technology advances at Futurecom's Tenth Edition International Seminar held in Sao Paulo at the Transamerica Expo Center from October 27th - 30th. The speech takes place October 30th at 10:00 a.m. in the Argentina Conference Room.

Mr. Bhatia plans to address a range of promising wireless technologies and opportunities such as femtocells, and WiMax. Femtocells are small router-like devices that connect to a home or business broadband line and enable subscribers to use their standard 3G mobile handset to obtain voice and data services from the mobile service provider. Through partnerships with several of the world's leading equipment manufacturers, today GENBAND's media and security gateways are integral parts of at least 12 active femtocell trials around the world.

"Femtocell innovation offers a range of very attractive consumer and business propositions," said Mr. Bhatia. "We look forward to discussing the sweeping subscriber benefits of this emerging technology including its low power consumption, wide 3G coverage capabilities for home and small business environments and low cost voice/data features. Operators enjoy significant benefits as well, such as targeted home zone pricing that enables fixed mobile substitution Fixed Mobile Substitution, usually abbreviated to FMS, is the use of a mobile phone (cellular phone) instead of a fixed, wired, POTS telephone.
