Advanced IPX Proxy Offers New Revenue and Network Management Opportunities to IP Network Operators

PLANO, Texas -- GENBAND Inc., a market-leading developer of next-generation IP infrastructure solutions, today announced SIPconnect Certification and a suite of enhancements to its S3[TM] Session Border Controller including the most advanced, highest performance, fully compliant IPX Proxy offering on the market. GENBAND's enhanced S3 has successfully completed IPX trials with several large mobile operators and will be highlighted at CTIA Wireless 2009, April 1 - 3, in Las Vegas, at Booth 6906.

IPX Proxy enables the secure exchange of IP-based traffic between fixed and mobile carriers, ASPs, and enterprises over private IP networks, delivering differentiated service quality and well-defined charging methods for bilateral and multilateral traffic exchange. GENBAND's integration of IPX Proxy into the S3 provides a comprehensive solution that delivers high performance routing based on ENUM for multimedia and emerging mobile applications, such as IM, picture, and video. It also provides session visibility and policy control to the IPX operation and supports CDR processing, QoS/SLA alarming and extensive analytics to support IPX exchanges.

The S3 also recently achieved SIPconnect Compliant certification from the SIP Forum, a leading independent IP communications industry association comprised of individuals and companies who contribute to the development of global IP communications based on the SIP standard. SIPconnect certification provides customers with validation that the S3 provides reliable direct IP peering between SIP IP PBXs and operator VoIP networks. By supporting registration handling for SIP trunks, interworking for SIP, and H.323 with programmable header manipulation, the enhanced S3 overcomes vendor incompatibilities in a wide variety of IP PBXs and end devices. The S3 SBC's direct peering to VoIP networks also eliminates the need for TDM gateways at the premises, reducing integration complexity, freeing network resources, and enabling device interoperability and faster rollout of new services.

Adding to the S3 product's extensive interconnect routing feature set, new percent-based routing capabilities allow operators to distribute traffic across supplier routes based on percentages. This facilitates the maintenance of service agreements with other carriers and flexibly distributes call loads across carriers, minimizing interconnection costs and simplifying provisioning and support.
