, and many of them are busily learning and sharing the skills they'll need to survive in the fairly harsh work environment they've inherited.

One site where those of us who work with Gen-Xers can find clues to understanding them is Tripod: Tools for Life.

This is how Tripod describes itself: ``Jobs don't last. Careers don't last! Health is a struggle rather than a natural fact. Skill lets you travel farther than money will - a lot farther. Saving money? You know you have to, but how? Too often, community is found in places other than where we live.''

The site is amusingly designed, but without the mind-boggling graphics that can obscure good writing on otherwise useful and informative sites, such as HotWired.

Tripod also sends out a regular e-mail newsletter with information about new additions to the site.

More information is available at the site.
