GEN)TURKEY AND ESTONIA SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING ON COOPERATION IN AGRICULTURE.


ANKARA, Jul 7, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Turkey and Estonia signed a Memorandum of Understanding A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is a legal document describing a bilateral or multilateral agreement between parties. It expresses a convergence of will between the parties, indicating an intended common line of action and may not imply a legal commitment.  (MoU) on Monday regarding cooperation in agriculture.

Turkish Minister of Agriculture & Rural Affairs Mehmet Mehdi Eker Mehmet Mehdi Eker is Minister of Agriculture of Turkey and Member of Parliament for Diyarbakır of the ruling AKP.

A veterinarian and agro-economist he had a career as a civil servant in the ministry of agriculture before entering politics at the age of 46.
, currently in Estonia upon an invitation from his Estonian counterpart Helir-Valdor Seeder, signed the MoU on behalf of Turkey.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Eker gave information to Helir-Valdor Seeder about agriculture in Turkey and noted that private sector should be encouraged to boost agricultural production.

"Production of fresh fruits and vegetables can not be made in Estonia because of geographical conditions. Fresh fruits and vegetables produced in Turkey can be exported to Estonia. Geographical distance is not important."

Eker will return to Turkey on July 7.
