Here are just a couple of the events coming up next week. LANCASTER -- The 2006 Palmdale Gem and Mineral Show will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 4 and 5 in the Poppy Pavilion at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground. , 2551 W. Ave. H. Of special interest at the show will be exhibits by David Walblom, his wife, Susan Chaisson-Walblom, and Russ and Lorna Lass. Walblom will have some of his large sculptures on-site and Chaisson-Walblom will show her jewelry jewelry, personal adornments worn for ornament or utility, to show rank or wealth, or to follow superstitious custom or fashion. The most universal forms of jewelry are the necklace, bracelet, ring, pin, and earring. . Russ Lass will show many of his specially made jewelry items and Lorna Lass will display her artistry art·ist·ry n. 1. Artistic ability: a sculptor of great artistry. 2. Artistic quality or craft: the artistry of a poem. in Southwestern Indian pots. Many other collections and crafted items will be shown in the other booths that will line the pavilion wall to wall. Several of the artisans will be demonstrating their techniques. Fairgrounds caterers will have food on sale on the grounds and the club will offer desserts for a minimal donation. Admission is free but the fairgrounds parking charge is $3. Next year, the club will mark its golden anniversary and there are plans are to hold a special celebration in June in conjunction with the California Federation of Mineral Societies, followed in November by a local commemoration of the 50-year milestone. Youth Support Association will present its annual Mystery Dinner Theater production from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Nov. 4 in the John Wesley Fellowship Hall A fellowship hall is a large room in a church building where certain activities in the church building are done, such as certain dinners ,breakfasts, meetings,or workshops etc. It gets its name from the fact that the people there at the church building are giving fellowship. at the church, 918 W. Ave. J. The story line will be that the church's ladies auxiliary will hold its ``Annual Dinner Roast'' at which a wealthy mogul is spotlighted. Something goes terribly wrong, the mystery has to be solved and the culprits taken into custody. Audience members are utilized as part of the presentation and the rest of the guests are urged to solve the ``crime'' before the evening is over. Tickets are $45 per couple, or $25 each. That includes a four-course meal and a silent auction. Proceeds are earmarked to benefit the Phone Friend and Teen Talk Teen Talk is an episode in the animated series Beavis and Butt-head.
