GEISSLER TO HEAD STATE PANEL.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  - The Bowman High School principal will head a committee that explores, promotes and supports alternative education in the state, officials announced Tuesday.

Robin Geissler was named chairwoman of the Continuation Educational Options and Alternative Education Committee by the Association of California School Administrators.

Geissler will serve as a liaison between Region 15 and the state committee, as well as chair the regional committee. That committee serves 56 school districts in Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, . She will meet with regional chairmen throughout the state, as well as alternative school administrators in the local district.

The committee purpose is ``to explore, promote, support and influence solutions to financial-program and legislative issues facing alternative education in the state,'' officials said.
