GEICO Names Karen Brinster Associate Actuary.


WASHINGTON -- GEICO's board of directors recently named Karen Brinster of Rockville, Md., associate actuary with responsibility for actuarial reserving at the company's headquarters in Chevy Chase Chevy Chase (chĕv`ē), town (1990 pop. 8,559), Montgomery co., W central Md., a residential suburb of Washington, D.C.; founded as a village, inc. 1914. , Md.

Prior to assuming her current responsibilities as a company officer, Brinster served as director and assistant actuary.

Brinster joined GEICO GEICO Government Employees Insurance Company  in 1991 as an actuarial assistant in actuarial pricing. She has held several positions in the actuarial pricing and reserving areas, and her experience includes exposure to all reserve projections for the companies.

"Karen has the strong actuarial judgment and high professional integrity needed to oversee GEICO's reserving operations and maintain our commitment to a disciplined balance sheet," said Don Lyons, GEICO senior vice president.

She holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Duke University in Durham, N.C.
