GEAR for Windows 95 and Windows NT ships, featuring 32-bit native support.

BALA CYNWYD, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 1995--Elektroson is now shipping its new 32-bit CD-R (CD-Recordable) A writable CD technology using a type of compact disc that can be recorded, but not erased (CD-Rs are "write once" discs). All features of the existing 16-bit Windows product are included in the updated 32-bit versions of GEAR 3.2 for Windows 95 and Windows NT. By making use of the integrated Microsoft Mini-port IO driver, the 32-bit versions of GEAR 3.2 for Windows are easy to install on Windows 95 and NT operating systems.

GEAR for Windows NT, 95 and 3.1 comes in a single kit, allowing users to migrate from the 16-bit version of Windows to the higher- performance 32-bit operating system from Microsoft.

With a suggested retail price of $199 for the standard version and $499 for the Multimedia/Multiformat version (M/M M/M Multi-Media

``The new 32-bit versions of GEAR 3.2 will allow corporate users and multimedia developers to achieve the speed and performance requirements necessary to fully utilize the new 32-bit operating systems,'' said Jiren Parikh, general manager, Elektroson.

Other features include a separate fixation option that corrects improperly written disks and an archive bit reset feature that automatically backs up files, in subsequent sessions, that have changed since the initial writing.

These improvements come on top of GEAR's already-noteworthy data integrity. Tested in InfoWorld magazine, GEAR 2.12 (paired with the Yamaha CDE (1) (Computer Desktop Encyclopedia) What you are reading at this very moment. See About this product.
