GE buys $250m multifamily portfolio.


STAMFORD, CT: GE Real Estate announced the purchase of a $256 million portfolio of multifamily assets from FirstWorthing Corporation and Principal Financial Corporation.

 assets, which includes 10 properties comprising 3,532 units and 3.2 million square feet in Dallas, TX, Atlanta, GA, and Austin, TX.

GE Real Estate will hold the assets on its balance sheet and proactively manage the properties to maximize value. This acquisition was the third portfolio purchase by GE Real Estate's North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere.  Equity division's Direct Investments group of, which was formed in late 2006.

The Direct Investments group purchases portfolios independent of equity partners and third-party debt, and is targeting up to $4B in acquisitions during 2007.
