GE LIGHTING INTRODUCES NEW ENERGY EFFICIENT T8 WATT-MISER
Whether you run a retail store, manage a plant or operate a
hospital, energy efficiency is a top priority. And industries across
the country are feeling the pinch of rising energy costs. However,
thanks to the innovative engineers at GE Lighting, the company is
proud to introduce an energy efficient solution - the new T8 Ultra
Watt-Miser System.
Using six percent less energy than a standard T8, GE Lighting's T8
Watt-Miser offers immediate energy savings without any loss in
performance. This energy-efficient product operates at only 30-watts,
yet offers the same light output and long life as a standard T8 lamp.
"Rising energy costs have businesses across channels reevaluating
their energy consumption," said Nick Iacobucci, GE Lighting's Product
Manager-Fluorescent. "The new T8 Watt-Miser fulfills the need for more
energy-efficient fluorescent lighting, without sacrificing quality or
life - and combined with the new GE Ultra ballast, the complete T8
system can save about 11 percent in energy over standard T8 lamp and
ballast systems."
The T8 Watt-Miser Ultra system offers offer a three-year lamp and
five-year ballast warranty.

GE'S F TECHNOLOGY TO HELP MEET MALAYSIA'S GROWING NEED FOR
ADDITIONAL POWER
GE Power Systems has received contracts totaling approximately
US$188 million to supply equipment and long-term services for a
350-megawatt power plant in Prai, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia.
Marking the first installation of GE 9FA combined-cycle technology
in Malaysia, the new combined-cycle plant will supply power to help
support the country's economic growth, which surpassed 10% in 2000.
The plant owner, SKS Ventures Sdn Bhd. of Malaysia selected
Sumitomo Corporation of Japan for the installation and erection of the
power plant. The contract signing was witnessed by Dato' Mohd Annas,
Director General of Electricity and Gas Supply of Malaysia.
GE is the subcontractor for the power island equipment, which
includes an MS9001FA gas turbine, a heat recovery steam generator and
a steam turbine. GE also has signed a long-term service agreement
(LTSA) to supply parts, services and repairs for 19 years. GE Power
Systems' services unit, based in Atlanta, GA, now has more than $17
billion in commitments for LTSAs and operation and maintenance
agreements for power plants worldwide.
"We are very pleased to be supporting the Prai project, and
believe that it will be a milestone for future power plant development
in the area," added F.L. Leow, Region Executive - Asia Pacific for GE
Power Systems.
Dato' Mohd Hilmi, chairman of SKS Ventures, said that GE's 9FA
technology was selected based on its proven design, and also noted
that the plant heat rate, availability and emissions levels will meet
the requirements negotiated between SKS and TNB. GE's F-class gas
turbines now have accumulated more than 3.6 million hours of
commercial operation, with more than 1,000 units installed or on order
for projects worldwide.

GE GLOBAL EXCHANGE SERVICES AND 2WAY FORM ALLIANCE FOR
INTERACTIVE ENTERPRISE COMMUNICATION
GE Global eXchange Services, a leader in business-to-business
Internet commerce, and 2WAY Corporation, a provider of enterprise
collaborative communications software, announced an alliance to
develop and market an interactive communication solution. The solution
is designed to enable companies to integrate customer, partner and
employee feedback into internal business systems such as customer
relationship management (CRM).
The solution will help companies to gather and process this
information in a more efficient manner, thereby decreasing response
time and improving communication between companies and their key
constituents. For example:
-- An online product satisfaction survey completed by a customer
could be sent automatically to a company's CRM system, prompting
an immediate service call.
-- Responses to a new benefits plan, submitted online by employees,
could be sent automatically to a company's human resources system,
supporting cost-saving benefit adjustments.
-- A cost-analysis calculator that helps buyers and sellers determine
return-on-investment by comparing the cost of manual transactions
against the cost of e-commerce transactions
"Companies from diverse industries will be able to streamline and
enhance their communications with important constituents using the
integrated solution created by this alliance," said Jim Rogers,
director of GE Global eXchange Services' Global Alliance Program. "We
are pleased to welcome 2WAY as a Premier member of our Global Alliance
Program."
