GE Plastics Donates $400,000 to Lowndes County Schools; Funds Will Help Secure $4 Million in Bonds for Needed Repairs.

BURKVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 4, 2001

GE Plastics, which operates a plastics manufacturing plant here, announced today that it would donate $400,000 to the Lowndes County Lowndes County is the name of several counties in the United States:

 School System to help that system secure $4 million in bonds for building repairs. The funds will enable the school system to take part in a federal, interest-free $2 million Qualified Zone Academy Bond and $2 million in other bonds.

The funds will be used for repairs at Calhoun High School where work is needed for the roof, heating and air conditioning air conditioning, mechanical process for controlling the humidity, temperature, cleanliness, and circulation of air in buildings and rooms. GE Plastics makes an annual voluntary contribution of $200,000 to the Lowndes County School System. The $400,000 presented today includes the total 2001 contribution plus an additional one-time gift of $200,000.

In addition to the voluntary contribution to the school system, GE Plastics also makes an annual voluntary contribution to the County Commission General Fund of $200,000 and an additional $90,000 to help operate the county ambulance service.
