), a leading provider of high-tech diagnostic imaging services, announced that the companies have signed an exclusive, multi-year agreement that will enable ADM healthcare customers with state-of-the-art imaging technology from GE. Under the agreement, which becomes effective on January 1, 2002, GE will provide more than 40 advanced positron emission tomography positron emission tomography: see PET scan.

"This agreement is an integral part of our strategy to increase the understanding and application of new technologies," said Anand Kancherlapalli, Co-Founder of American Diagnostic Medicine. "With the cooperation of GE Medical Systems and medical thought leaders, and our emerging applications in artificial intelligence from AIdentity Matrix, we are able to offer the latest medical systems in addition to the training that is necessary for physicians to keep pace with rapidly changing technology that allows them to make better diagnoses."

The agreement includes GE's fused imaging systems, Discovery(TM) LS and Discovery(TM) VI, and GE's sophisticated Advance(TM) NXi PET system. ADM has placed an initial order for six GE Discovery VI fused imaging systems, which will be installed in healthcare facilities in California, Florida, Illinois and Texas.

According to Dow Wilson, General Manager of Functional and Molecular Imaging at GE Medical Systems, "Our agreement with ADM represents an exciting relationship that joins two innovative companies to improve healthcare. ADM's selection of GE as their exclusive provider of PET and fused imaging is a reinforcement of our technology leadership. GE's forethought fore·thought

GE Discovery Series of fused imaging systems represents one of the most significant technological advancements in medicine in the past 20 years according to healthcare experts. Discovery combines advanced PET and CT imaging technologies to produce both anatomical and metabolic information in a single patient exam.

acts as the "map" showing doctors precisely where the disease is located. The Discovery Series, like television radar, combines information from two systems, PET and CT, to pinpoint activity and location fused into one image.

"GE Discovery will enable physicians to see and stage disease more accurately, and plan treatment more precisely," said Tom Hook, General Manager, Global PET, for GE Medical Systems. "Integrated PET/CT PET/CT Positron Emission Tomography and Computed Tomography  imaging is a perfect example of a technological breakthrough that can positively impact patient outcomes while making healthcare providers more efficient and cost effective."
