GCC Food Labeling Meeting Begins.

Muscat Muscat, Maskat, or Masqat (all: mŭs`kăt, mŭs`kət), city (1993 pop. 533,774), capital of Oman, SE Arabia, on the Gulf of Oman. It is flanked by rugged mountains. , May 8 (ONA) --- GCC GCC: see Gulf Cooperation Council.

(compiler, programming) GCC - The GNU Compiler Collection, which currently contains front ends for C, C++, Objective-C, Fortran, Java, and Ada, as well as libraries for these languages (libstdc++, libgcj, etc).
 Food Labeling Sub-Committee, which the Sultanate chairs and runs its Technical Secretariat, held at Platinum Hotel today 6th meeting. Representatives from GCC countries and Yemen, alongside with the Sultanate take part in the two-day meeting. The meeting discussed a number of issues, such as revision project of the Gulf Technical Bylaw by·law

1. A law or rule governing the internal affairs of an organization.

2. A secondary law.

) to put standards for packed food labels in a bid to ensure that customers get all details of goods they buy. The meeting also aims at identifying (15) Gulf standards and to unify regulatory measures in all GCC countries. The Head of Standards Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Directorate General of Standards and Metrology and Head of the Sub-Committee said that all standards of Food labels, which are approved by GSO Board of Directors have been put into effect by all member states and some of the members, including the Sultanate, are binding manufacturers and importers to provide label samples for checking and approval before sticking them on goods' packs. --- Ends/ MN/ KH
