GATA and Gold Price Suppression Featured by Smart Money Magazine.

Gold and the Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee are the subjects of a beautifully illustrated six-page report in the June edition of Smart Money magazine, a Wall Street Journal publication, which has arrived on newsstands.

The report, titled "Return of the Goldbugs," identifies conditions contributing to gold's rise, anoints GATA Chairman Bill Murphy "king of the goldbugs," and lays out in some detail GATA's contention that the gold price is being suppressed by collusion between central banks and financial institutions.

The report says: "Murphy and his brethren are convinced that for a decade there has been a government-sanctioned plot to suppress gold prices to prop up the value of the dollar. This plan has been carried out by a 'Gold Cartel,' composed of the Federal Reserve and giant commercial banks. Murphy contends that the U.S. government has been using derivatives to secretly sell its stash of gold, essentially turning ownership over to other groups while never physically moving the gold. Murphy formed the Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee to publicize this plot, and no conversation with a goldbug lasts long without mention of the cartel."

For GATA this report is a breakthrough into the mainstream U.S. financial news media, and GATA needs its supporters to help exploit it. GATA asks all advocates of a free market in gold to buy a copy of Smart Money's June issue, in part to show appreciation but also for use in a campaign to win publicity from other news organizations. Advocates of a free market in gold are asked to make copies of the Smart Money report and send them to newspapers and magazines to which they subscribe, along with a request that the paper or magazine pursue the gold price suppression story.
