GARRICK NAMED PRESIDENT, COO OF NIELSEN MARKETING RESEARCH USA

 NORTHBROOK, Ill., June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Effective immediately, George Garrick, 40, has been named president and chief operating officer for Nielsen Marketing Research USA (NMR USA), announced John C. Holt, chairman and chief executive officer of A.C. Nielsen and executive vice president of The Dun & Bradstreet Corp. Garrick succeeds John H. Costello, who resigned in March.
 Garrick was president, European Information Services for Information Resources, Inc. He was also CEO, managing director for InfoScan-NMRA, Ltd. He has held both positions since 1992. During his twelve-year career with IRI, Garrick held many key positions including president, Consumer Packaged Goods division; executive vice president, product manager for BehaviorScan, Media Services and Marketing, and Client Services.
 Garrick began his career in 1976 with Market Science Associates, Inc. in its Chicago office. In 1981, as vice president, he left to join IRI. He holds bachelor of science degrees in engineering and mathematics, and a master's degree in management from Purdue University.
 In an announcement to Nielsen associates today, Holt said, "Garrick's industry knowledge and international experience will help advance even further, Nielsen's leadership position in the U.S. and around the world."
 Richard P. Derr, president, Nielsen Information Services; David M. Lonsdale, president, Nielsen Software & Systems; and Gary D. Payne, president, Nielsen Client Service will report directly to Garrick.
 Garrick and his wife, Lainie, presently reside in London.
