A month after being promoted to the Chicago White Sox The Chicago White Sox are a professional baseball team based in Chicago, Illinois. The White Sox are a member of the Central Division of Major League Baseball's American League. From to the present, the White Sox have played in U.S. , Jon Garland Jon Steven Garland (born September 27, 1979 in Valencia, California) is a right-handed starting pitcher in Major League Baseball for the Chicago White Sox.

Garland was selected by the Chicago Cubs with the 10th pick of the 1997 amateur draft.

Garland, a former Kennedy High of Granada Hills standout, will be on the mound as the White Sox begin a four-game series at Edison Field against the Angels at 7:05 p.m.

Garland is 1-2 with an 8.22 ERA in four games, three starts, since being promoted from Triple-A Charlotte on July 3. In Triple-A, the 20-year-old led the International League with a 2.14 ERA.

Garland was a first-round pick (10th overall) by the Chicago Cubs in the 1997 free-agent draft. He was traded to the White Sox in 1998 for reliever Matt Karchner Matthew Dean Karchner (born June 28, 1967 in Berwick, Pennsylvania), is a former professional baseball player who pitched in the Major Leagues from 1995-2000. On Sunday, the UCLA-USC rivalry will be center stage as former Bruin and Crescenta Valley High graduate Jim Parque (9-4, 3.95) pitches against ex-Trojan Seth Etherton (5-1, 4.76).
