GARDEN CALENDAR.


Cactus and Succulent Show and Sale will feature exotic cactuses and succulents typically found in deserts, jungles and mountain highlands, and some that are rare and endangered in their native habitats, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 17 and 18, the Arboretum arboretum: see botanical garden.

Bonsai-a-thon will feature four of the world's top bonsai bonsai (bōn`sī), art of cultivating dwarf trees. Bonsai, developed by the Japanese more than a thousand years ago, is derived from the Chinese practice of growing miniature plants.  masters giving a series of demonstrations, with other activities including a display of masterpiece bonsai trees, a continuous video presentation on the art of bonsai and a ``Bonsai Bazaar'' with plants, pots, gardening tools and more for sale, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 25, Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens A botanical garden is a place where plants, especially ferns, conifers and flowering plants, are grown and displayed for the purposes of research, conservation, and education. , 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino.
